Guess what? It’s GypsyPlates’s Birthday again… 🙂
Time to celebrate and feel gratitude for 4 successful and rewarding years in this food journey of ours, that we share with you. Thank you, thank you and thank you. Each and every one of those millions of people who come and visit our food.
It’s only because of you that we are here, day by day churning out good food from all over the world.
This year’s birthday kinda snuck up on us, especially this week. There is a lot of back end stuff happening on GypsyPlate, plus this is the week our son started school.
It’s been a whirlwind of emotions and activities around here. Still, this is the day everything goes on the back burner, and we just raise a glass to a very special thing in our life, our work.
We absolutely love and enjoy our work. Sometimes it’s really unreal, just to think of the line of work we are in. I mean, many people actually never get it. “You mean to say that you take photos of your dinner and make money?”… “So, what you sell recipes?”… How odd it sounds.
I used to get amazed looks at my previous job also. “Oh you travel all around the world and get paid?” Yes, two very different, yet very rewarding professions.
On GypsyPlate’s front, each day we are growing bigger. We’re closing in on our 500th recipe, and our subscriber base is growing every day. It’s possible only because Jason has been full time since early last year.
Google is always our first and foremost traffic source, and I am always trying to cajole him to like us more. And most of the time he favors us good heartedly.
I sometimes flirt with Facebook for fun, but haven’t much tried other social networks like Instagram and TikTok, which aren’t big traffic getters for most blogs.
We are in the process of tidying up the site on the technical side, and might possibly change our WordPress theme in the near future. So maybe a new look. Not sure though, we’ll see.
We’ve been having fun with our travel section. This past year we covered two international destinations, England and Wales in September for Noah’s Birthday, and Spain in April for mine.
We had a blast traveling all around these beautiful countries, and trying local delicacies. Check out our travel section and get inspired for your next holiday.
Now with Noah starting school, we might do some mini destinations here in the states, along with India in November to celebrate Diwali with family.
So what else in the future? Just more food, more writing and more travel, hopefully. You will hear everything.
We love bringing you all this food, be it Pancit from the streets of the Philippines, Mojo Pork from Cuba, Hungarian Goulash or authentic Falafel. It’s fun searching for these authentic regional flavors and bringing them in to your very kitchen.
Thank you for being with us all these years, trying our food and loving our food. We love getting all the comments and emails from you. Keep the love coming GypsyPlate’s way.
We are humbled, and feel the love… Cheers!!!

Can’t wait to try your other recipes. Love all your travel photos. Noah’s 1st day of school pictures are adorable. Best of luck with all you do! Caroline 🙂
Thank you, Caroline! Now I’m craving pot roast…

I JUST signed up after making five of your recipes this week thanks to my mom sharing your Chicken Provençal recipe! It was so good I said, “I want to follow HER!” and I’m so glad I did! Albondigas and Hashweh were some that I made; my husband was in heaven! Wishing you all the best on your special day from your west coast of FL fan!
