Summer vacation is over, Noah is back in school, and August is well underway. And around here, that means one more thing… GypsyPlate is another year older!
It’s time to celebrate all the hard work, sweat, food, travels, and memories that have filled our lives over the past seven years.
Happy 7th Birthday, GypsyPlate!!

My two babies are growing up fast. Noah is definitely not a baby anymore, and neither is GypsyPlate! Noah turns 8 next month, and GypsyPlate trails right behind him by just one year.
Seven years and around 800 recipes later, it looks like we have cooked A LOT of food for you guys!
And somehow, we still keep finding new dishes that make us wonder, “How have we never cooked this before?” That is probably my favorite thing about GypsyPlate. There is always another cuisine to explore, another dish to discover, and something delicious waiting to happen in our kitchen.
This past year was especially exciting with the launch of our YouTube channel, and it really feels like we have entered a whole new video era at GypsyPlate.

Nowadays, almost every new recipe comes with a step-by-step video, so you can actually watch how all that wonderful food comes together in our kitchen.
We’ve also been busy adding videos to our existing recipes, and with around 800 of them, you can imagine what a project that is! But it’s been a lot of fun revisiting old favorites, cooking them again, and sometimes improving them along the way.
GypsyPlate Premium has continued growing too, giving us a place to share exclusive recipes with our members, along with ad-free access to everything we’ve cooked over the years.
And, Jason and Noah have been doing a lot of fishing and crabbing, so you may have been noticing a lot more seafood recipes lately!

This year was extra special on the family front too. My mom and sister came all the way from India for their first visit and stayed with us for a few months. We got to show them a little bit of our Florida life, traveled to beautiful St. Augustine, took a cruise to the Bahamas, and spent some relaxing time together at our cabin in the Smoky Mountains. Having them here for so long and getting to travel together gave us so many wonderful memories.

Then later this summer, we packed up the car and set off on our Epic American Road Trip!!
Six weeks. 21 states. 9,555 miles. Eight National Parks. And millions of lifetime memories!

We traveled through Rocky Mountain, Grand Teton, Yellowstone, Glacier, Badlands, Wind Cave, Indiana Dunes and Great Smoky Mountains National Parks, along with so many amazing places in between. And Glacier National Park takes the crown. What a spectacular place!!
Only when you travel America by road do you really realize how GIGANTIC this country is. We saw mountains, lakes, waterfalls, bears, bison, endless plains, little towns, big cities and mile after mile of completely changing scenery.
And naturally, being GypsyPlate, we ate plenty of great food along the way too!

We have lots more to share about those 9,555 miles, so our big road trip post will be coming soon!
Looking back, it’s pretty amazing how much GypsyPlate has grown right alongside our family.
When we started, Noah was just a tiny little guy. Now he’s almost 8, and GypsyPlate is 7. One is busy with school, surfing and adventures, while the other has somehow accumulated around 800 recipes and keeps us cooking, photographing and filming almost every day!

And of course, none of those 800 recipes would mean very much without all of you.
To everyone who has cooked our food, watched our videos, left a comment, sent us pictures, shared a recipe, joined Premium, followed our travels, or simply stopped by to see what we were cooking… THANK YOU!
Seven years ago, we had no idea where GypsyPlate would take us. And after all these years, we’re still excited about the same things: discovering great food, cooking it, eating it, and sharing it with you.
My two babies are growing up fast, and I can’t wait to see where they both take us next.
Happy 7th Birthday, GypsyPlate!! ❤️
