What is the Best Sausage for this One Skillet Dinner?

We prefer any type of smoked sausage here. Think something like kielbasa or andouille. If you want to keep it healthier, use chicken or turkey smoked sausage.

You can also use other sausage varieties like Italian sausage, however keep in mind that the cooking times will be longer, as smoked sausages are already cooked.

    Ingredients

    • Cabbage
    • Sausage – We’re using kielbasa today.
    • Garlic – It wouldn’t be GypsyPlate without it.
    • Onion
    • Bell pepper – Red and yellow.
    • Diced tomatoes – Drained.
    • Chicken broth – We like Better than Bouillon.
    • Creole seasoning – We always keep around some easy homemade Creole Seasoning. If using store bought, look for a brand with lower sodium content.

We love it just as is. It’s a hearty low carb meal all on its own.
