This is one of my brilliant weeknight dinner ideas that happen with regular every day pantry ingredients. Nothing fancy… nothing difficult… just simple good old flavors.

It’s so easy to make that I often find myself cooking double or even triple the amount for meal prep lunches or dinners later in the week.

These Honey Garlic Chicken Bites are coated in a sticky delicious sauce and whip up in about 20 minutes!

Some big bonus points: You can turn this into a chicken stir fry by adding any veggies like bell peppers, broccoli, peas, carrots, onions. Or you can use the same recipe for beef, pork or shrimp… How cool!

I love easy meals that can be done in under 30 minutes. When life is busy and you just want a decent tasty dinner at the end of some hectic day, these meals come to my rescue.

I have so many quickies on GypsyPlate like Gigi Hadid Pasta, Dragon Chicken, Shrimp and Polenta, Mediterranean Pasta and so many others. Being a food blogger, I am constantly busy in the kitchen, and some night I am just looking for simple and easy, like everyone else. And that’s when these quick honey garlic chicken bites happen.

    Ingredients Needed

    Honey garlic chicken bites ingredients.
    • Chicken – I use chicken thighs, as I love dark meat. Chicken breast works great in this recipe too. Cut the chicken into bite size pieces.
    • Cornstarch – this coats the chicken and helps thicken the sauce.
    • Honey – for sweetness and flavors.
    • Garlic – freshly minced.
    • Lemon juice – a little tang to balance the honey. If I’m out of lemon, sometimes I make the same recipe with some white vinegar instead.
    • Sriracha – to give the sauce a little kick.
    • Chicken broth – it adds bulk and flavor to the sauce.
    • Olive oil and butter – I use a mix of both to sear the chicken.
    • Salt and pepper – to taste.
    • Crushed red pepper – a little at the end for some extra spice factor.
    • Fresh parsley – for garnish.

    Honey Garlic Chicken Recipe

    1. Prep chicken: This recipe comes together super fast, so I keep all the ingredients ready to go. First, I coat the chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt and pepper, making sure each piece is evenly covered.

      2. Make the sauce: Next, a prepare the sauce by whisking together chicken broth, lemon juice, honey and sriracha.

      Prepared sauce in a vessel.

      3. Sear chicken bites: Then, I heat some oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt a bit of butter into the oil, and add the chicken cubes. I cook them on all sides until they’re golden brown, which takes about 6-8 minutes. If needed, I work in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan and keep the chicken from steaming instead of browning.

      4. Add the sauce: Once the chicken is perfectly cooked, I add the garlic and stir for about a minute, then pour in the sauce, stirring to coat each piece of chicken well. I let it simmer for a couple of minutes so all the flavors meld together and the sauce thickens, sticking nicely to the chicken bites.

      5. Final touches: To finish, I add a pinch of red chili flakes for a little heat and stir in some fresh parsley.

Then, I serve it immediately over a bowl of rice, noodles, or zoodles, depending on what I’m in the mood for!

      Variations

      • For a more Asian-inspired flavor in the chicken bites, sometimes I like to add a splash of soy sauce or oyster sauce to the mix.
      • This recipe also works great with other proteins like pork, beef, or shrimp for a delicious twist.
      • For extra veggie power, I add my favorite stir-fry vegetables like bell peppers, onion, carrots, broccoli, or snow peas. All work beautifully.
