Here's a tasty meal that takes minimum effort! My Hawaiian Flatbread Pizza perfectly combines sweet and salty for a treat that everyone will enjoy!

I absolutely love quick flatbreads. My Steak and Gorgonzola Flatbread, Smoked Salmon Flatbread, Fig and Prosciutto Flatbread and Mediterranean Flatbread are all so easy to make, yet are loaded with amazing flavors. No one complains when I make these good looking meals and bring it to the table. I strongly believe that flatbreads are every ones best friends for some busy days.

Today’s flatbread takes inspiration from my love for Hawaiian pizza. Though you don’t have to make pizza dough or worry about rolling it or baking it to perfection. These flatbreads come out every time perfectly baked and cheesy, melty and delicious. That Hawaiian sweet and tasty profile with ham, cheese and pineapple highlighted by bacon is simply too much not to say… Mmm!

    Ingredients Needed

    • Flatbread – I use flatbread as the base for the pizza. It gives it a nice crispy texture and makes for a quick and easy meal.
    • Pizza Sauce – The sauce adds a tangy richness that ties all the toppings together.
    • Mozzarella Cheese – I prefer freshly shredded mozzarella cheese because it melts perfectly and has a mild, creamy flavor that balances the other ingredients.
    • Ham – Cut into small cubes so it’s easy to distribute across the flatbread. The ham adds a savory, slightly salty flavor that pairs well with the pineapple.
    • Pineapple Rings – I cut the pineapple rings into cubes for a burst of sweetness. The pineapple balances the savory elements with a juicy, tropical flavor.
    • Bacon – I fry bacon strips and crumble them over the top. The crispy, salty bacon adds a nice crunch and a smoky flavor that complements the sweetness of the pineapple.

How to Make Hawaiian Flatbread Pizza

First, I preheat the oven to 400°F. While it’s heating up, I get my flatbread ready as the base. I love using flatbread because it’s quick, crispy, and the perfect size for a personal pizza. Then, I spread a generous layer of pizza sauce all over the flatbread to give it that tangy base.

Next, I sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce. I use mozzarella because it melts beautifully and has that mild, creamy flavor that goes so well with the other toppings. Then, I add some ham, cutting it into small cubes to make sure each bite gets a bit of savory goodness. After that, I chop up some pineapple rings into cubes and scatter them on top. The pineapple’s sweetness is the perfect contrast to the salty ham and the smoky bacon I’ll add next.

Speaking of bacon, I fry a couple of strips until they’re nice and crispy, then crumble them over the pizza for that delicious salty crunch. Finally, I top it all with the rest of the shredded mozzarella, ensuring everything is covered in cheesy goodness.

Now, I pop it in the oven and bake it for about 12-14 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Once it’s out, I let it rest for a couple of minutes (it’s always tempting to dive right in, but this makes it easier to cut). Then, I slice it up and serve! It’s the perfect combo of savory, sweet, and smoky, all on a crispy flatbread. Enjoy!

    Alpana’s Tips

    • Use a thick pizza sauce: If you want a richer flavor, use a thicker pizza sauce, or even try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little extra kick.
    • Pre-cook the ham: While it’s not necessary, I like to give the ham a quick sauté in a pan to caramelize it a bit. This adds depth to the flavor and keeps it from being too soft.
    • Drain the pineapple well: To avoid the pineapple making the flatbread soggy, I drain it well and pat it with some paper towels before adding it to the pizza.
    • Customizing the cheese: If you’re feeling adventurous, try mixing mozzarella with some cheddar for a sharper, more complex cheese flavor.
    • Watch the oven time: Keep an eye on it while it’s baking. Since flatbread is thinner than regular pizza dough, it can cook quickly. And remember, oven temperatures do vary. You want the cheese to be bubbly and golden without burning the edges.
    • Let it rest: Don’t skip the resting time after baking! It lets the cheese firm up a bit, so it’s easier to slice and eat without everything sliding off.
    • Serve with a Side Salad: If you want a well-rounded meal, a light green salad with a tangy vinaigrette is a perfect match for this pizza.

    Variations

BBQ Hawaiian Flatbread: Instead of pizza sauce, sometimes I use BBQ sauce as the base. Then, I add the usual ham and pineapple. Sometimes I’ll even toss in some cooked chicken breast, seasoned with BBQ sauce, for an extra smoky flavor.

Spicy Hawaiian Flatbread: For a little heat, I like to sprinkle some red pepper flakes or slice a fresh jalapeño and scatter it over the pizza. The spicy kick works so well with the sweetness of the pineapple and the saltiness of the ham.

Hawaiian with a Twist: Instead of ham, I sometimes use sliced prosciutto for a slightly different flavor.

Hawaiian Veggie Flatbread: For a veggie version, I replace the ham with roasted red peppers or zucchini, and keep the pineapple for that sweet, tropical flavor. It’s lighter, but still totally satisfying.
